Agree with Mr. Tell on this one. One night many, many years ago (Christmas Eve-1970) I was at a friends house and ate waaaaaaay to much orange sunshine and was having a rough go of it. I was laying on the floor in the living room and someone put A.B. on the turntable. From the opening chords of Box of Rain I immediately started feeling better and was mellowing out. By the time Truckin' came on I had dropped a couple of hundred thousand feet and could actually put a sentence together. If someone would have put on 10/12/68 I probably would have ran out of there screaming. Studio albums are the way to go for newbies.IMO. Almost a year passed before I saw them live at the Felt Forum. I was ready. During that time I had bought every album available and got familiar with their work. There might have been a few tapes available by then. I honestly don't remember.
